Sixteen year old Yuma lives with her wealthy father and step family in Sydney. Kyanna, also 16, lives in a community in the central Australian desert with her mother and extended family. Seperated at birth, these two girls are completely unaware that the other exists, until a twist of fate sees them bump into each other in Alice Springs. When the pair discover their connection, and decide they want to meet the parent they don't know, they agree to swap lives, just for a day. Little do they know the trouble they will find themselves in as things go wrong and each is stranded in each other's world. That's when the fun really starts. Yuma finds herself marooned amongst strangers in an Aboriginal community, far away from the luxuries of her city life. Kyanna is flown to Sydney, a foreign place in which she struggles without the community's social support. After discovering a secret that prevents them from revealing the truth about the other's existence, each has to pretned to be the other. To pull it off, each has to learn about the other's friends and interests and try to fit in with families they hadn't known existed, until they can find a way to get back to their own lives. But when you are living in a strange new culture, that isn't easy - even the littlest things can trip you up! (English)
