Labradorimiut is a unique program that explores the experiences of Inuit in a region of Canada that is often overlooked or even unheard of. The place is called Labrador. This weekly documentary series examines current affairs through a cultural lens giving Canadians a glimpse of what it's like to live on the North East coast of Canada by fusing together the new vibrant energy of the Inuit youth with the cultural traditions and awareness of the elders bringing Canadians unique stories that they won't see anywhere else. It is the only television program in Canada being broadcast in the Labrador Inuit dialect of the Inuttitut language, a language that is increasingly threatened with the last generation of fluent speakers growing smaller in number all the time. Labradorimiut shares the stories of the Inuit of Labrador with themes and emotions that resonate with people across Canada and the world. Labrador is one of the last untouched and truly pristine places in Canada where living off the land is still a way of life for most people.
