The New Canoe is an Aboriginal arts and cultural television series independently produced by Aarrow Productions Inc. The series features contemporary and traditional Aboriginal arts, musicians, dancers, authors, language specialists and others involved in their culture.
Native Earth
Arts Reporter Michael Glendale travels to Vancouver and Toronto to learn about Canada's oldest Aboriginal theatre company - Native Earth Performing Arts. The company is celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2008; this episode features a retrospective and an overview of their current programming.
Ucluelet
Art Napoleon visits the Nuu-chah-nulth community of Ucluelet, where he learns about the community's Aboriginal heritage, projects and partnerships. Art visits the community language centre, the Du Quah Gallery, the Wickanninnish Interpretive Centre and the Nuu-chah-nulth Trail.
Tsimshian Treasures
Host Barbara Hager explores the issues of repatriation and cultural patrimony involving materials traded, sold or stolen from First Nations of BC in the 19th century. This episode explores that fate of the Dundas collection, an extraordinary group of masks, rattles and other objects that were removed from the Tsimshian community of Metlakatla in the mid-1800s by a preacher. His family sold the collection at auction in 2006 at Sotheby's New York. A prominent Canadian family purchased several of the main objects, and an exhibit was held in BC in spring 2007 at the Royal BC Museum and Museum of Northern BC.

Art Napoleon interviews Cree actor Lorne Cardinal about his life in theatre, television and movies, including the hit CBC series Corner Gas." Lorne heads over to the Metro Theatre to offer comedy directing tips to the Aboriginal comedy troupe Shirts and Skins, which includes Janet Rogers, Suzanne Bate, Dano Underwood, Michael Delamont and Art Napoleon. The troupe rehearses for their live show the following night."
