NEHIYAWETAN I & II
WHAT'S ON APTN:
NEHIYAWETAN I & II
Tansi! Nehiyawetan wants the world to know that learning Cree can be enriching and lots of fun. Kai and Kayla join their Auntie Josephine on adventures that take them everywhere - from traditional feasts to kooky costume shops. Along the way, they get the chance to play games, sing songs, and tell stories. Learning new Cree words in each episode, Kai and Kayla put the words into practice as they share stories from their own lives. And they run, hop, and jump their way through games and activities inspired to help them master their Cree words with even more finesse. Tansi! Nehiyawetan includes creative music videos featuring outstanding Aboriginal musicians such as Art Napoleon and Renae Morriseau, who use Cree words in their songs so children at home can sing along - and learn Cree. Engaging animated stories by talented Aboriginal animators share Cree stories with cultural messages - and introduce playful characters. Top this off with traditional dancing and break-dancing, colourful green screen sequences, and thoughtful literacy segments, and you have a one-of-a-kind show that appeals to children everywhere. An interactive educational experience, Tansi! Nehiyawetan helps children cultivate positive skills and attitudes about being Cree and the Cree language - while learning to feel good about exploring and sharing knowledge. Designed for ages 5-7, Tansi! Nehiyawetan's eclectic blending of entertainment and education appeals to the whole family.
Clothing
You are cordially invited to Kai and Kayla's dress up party! They are on a costume adventure with their Auntie Josephine, as they learn the Cree words for the clothes they wear, and play an exciting game with funny clothes. Weather
It is sunny, it is windy, it is rainy, it is snowy. Josephine and guest performer, Skeena Reece, teach Kai and Kayla the Cree words for various weather. And they go to Science World to see how weather can help make energy. This episode is sure to bring sunshine to your house!
Feast
Let's eat, feast, and give thanks with Josephine, Kai, and Kayla, as they celebrate the end of another great year! All are welcomed in the feast at the Kla-how-eya Centre in Surrey, BC, filled with laughing and singing with the Children of the Rainbow.
