BLACKFLY

Ron James, host of this year's Gemini Awards, stars as Benny 'Blackfly' Broughton, the pint-sized jack-of-all-trades of a frontier fort in colonial Canada. If it's a dirty job that no one else wants to do, Blackfly gets stuck with it. From beaver farming to setting up the country's first coffee shop to dealing with card-sharking nun imposters, there's never a dull moment for the tiny tradesman. Blackfly is joined by Corporal Entwhistle, a hapless, by-the-book British officer played by Colin Mochrie of Whose Line Is It Anyway fame, acclaimed Aboriginal actor and musician Cheri Maracle as the sardonically witty and wise barkeep Misty Moon, James Kee as Blackfly's rowdy, cheap Scottish boss MacTavish, Richard Donat as the deranged fort commander Colonel Boyle, Shauna Black as Boyle's party-girl daughter Lady Hammond, and Lorne Cardinal as the good-natured local tribal leader Chief Smack-Your-Face-In.
