BACK IN THE DAY: ON THE MIGHTY FRASER
A social experiment takes six natives from their urban environment and puts them out in the bush in order to experience what it was like to live five hundred years ago. Under the guidance of an instructor, they're taught the basic steps they'll have to take to survive while at the same time dealing with their new social circle, and the withdrawal of their modern comforts. Back In the Day is an opportunity for those involved and watching to not only learn where they came from, but where they are now.
The Two Highways
Six urban Natives are taken from the city and deposited in the bush; the start of their week living as their ancestors did.
Shelter
Tensions build as The Urban Natives try to adapt to their new rural surroundings, Caffeine becomes an issue while they feel the withdrawal of their city life.
Performing
The urban Natives are taken out with a fishing party to learn how to bring in their own food; then learn the fundamentals of traditional carving.
Halfway
The stress of the bush takes their toll as the group looses a member, followed by a traditional hunt with bow and arrow.
A Look Back
On the river, the Urban Natives are taken on a tour of the traditional territory, and told old stories connected to the land.
