Michael Dick
Indigenous Language Production Executive / Management
Michael Dick, Ojibway from Fort William First Nation, is a media executive with over 20 years of experience in Indigenous storytelling and public broadcasting, both in Canada and abroad. He holds a degree in sociology and Canadian studies from Acadia University and a bachelor of journalism from the University of King’s College in Halifax.
Prior to joining APTN, Michael worked as CBC’s managing editor of network radio, and later as director of Indigenous content, strategy and development. In that role, he helped launch the national Pathways to Journalism program and developed CBC’s first-ever Indigenous news strategy, amplifying underrepresented voices and advancing reconciliation in media. He also worked internationally as a consulting producer with NHK in Tokyo, bringing a global perspective to community-driven storytelling.
Michael joined APTN in 2025 as Indigenous language production executive, a role in which he supports the revitalization of Indigenous languages through television and digital content. A former member of the Canadian Armed Forces, he brings a rare blend of cultural insight, editorial leadership and public service to everything he takes on.
