Indigenous Language Production Executive / Management

Shelley MacDougall was born and raised in Winnipeg, Man., and has historical Métis ancestry from the Red River Settlement, Treaty 1 territory. With over 25 years of experience in the film and television industry, she brings a wealth of knowledge to APTN.

She began her professional journey in Vancouver in 1997, where she worked in business affairs and script clearances for independent and studio productions. In 2012, Shelley returned to Winnipeg to continue her work in the film and television industry.

Shelley joined APTN in December 2015 as a programming coordinator for the central region. It wasn’t long before her passion and expertise was recognized as integral to the growth of APTN’s programming department. Two short years later, she was promoted to manager of programming. In 2022, after acquiring several years of experience with the programming department, she was promoted to manager of acquisitions. In 2023, Shelley became the Indigenous language production executive.
