Winnipeg, Manitoba – Aboriginal Peoples Television Network (APTN) has been acknowledged by MediaCorp Canada Inc. as one of Canada’s Top 100 Employers, for its fifth consecutive year. This national award recognizes the leaders in innovative and forward-thinking workplaces.

“APTN is extremely proud to be recognized as one of Canada’s Top 100 Employers,” says Jean La Rose, APTN’s Chief Executive Officer. “Thanks to the hard work and commitment of our people, the network’s successes are only achieved through the outstanding efforts of all employees.”

This award indicates a strong company culture at APTN, cultivating a positive and fulfilling work environment, fostering creativity and growth – with its team on the forefront.

Here are some of the areas in which the first Aboriginal television network in the world and Canada’s only independent Aboriginal network rises above the average:

  • Ongoing employee development: Subsidies for tuition and professional accreditation, career planning services, formal mentoring and in-house training programs.
  • Commitment to families: Parental leave top-up for new moms and dads (including adoptive parents) and opportunity to extend leave into an unpaid leave of absence.
  • It is the first national Aboriginal broadcaster in the world, with programming by, for and about Aboriginal Peoples– the organization endeavours to create a national radio network and is currently reviewing plans to develop a sister station in the United States to convey stories of Native Americans to an American audience

Canada’s Top 100 Employers was published yesterday by The Globe and Mail and Eluta.ca.
