About Shadow of the Rougarou
Shadow of the Rougarou is an energetic and gripping supernatural thriller that uses horror elements and traditional Métis mythology to tell the tale of sâkowêw, a westward bound Métis-Cree fur trapper called back home to rally recruits for the 1885 North-West Resistance. As she nears her childhood home, sâkowêw is overtaken by the haunting memories of her desperate escape from a monstrous Rougarou. Stalked by this ancient evil and ambushed in the wilds of the Rocky Mountains by a hostile group of American wolfers, sâkowêw must unravel the truth of her past if she is to return to her childhood village alive.
Set amidst the shifting landscape of the 19th century fur trade, Shadow of the Rougarou explores both historical realities and the spellbinding Métis legend of the Rougarou while our hero sâkowêw navigates the harsh mountain wilderness, the hostilities of colonialism and the search for home. Under the mounting shadow of her darkest fears, she must push deeper into the unknown to face the curse that ripped her life apart.
