Connecting with audiences through sponsorships increases our visibility, strengthens our relationships and showcases our network’s core values.

Whether national or regional, all sponsorships undertaken by APTN must align with our mission, principles and strategic goals, and partners must illustrate a commitment to the APTN brand.

Due to the large number of requests received, sponsorship proposals should be sent at least three months prior to the event or project start date in order to be properly considered and will be subject to our available budgetary and staff resources.

Our Sponsorship Mission

APTN believes that when we lose a language, we lose more than just words. We lose meaning. We lose culture. We lose the ability to learn from history – and more importantly, the ability to change it. And with 70+ Indigenous languages in Canada at risk of disappearing within the next generation, language revitalization efforts are more important than ever. That’s why APTN is dedicated to collaborating with Indigenous language preservation and revitalization events. By doing so, we are sharing our Peoples’ journey, celebrating our cultures, inspiring our children and honouring the wisdom of our Elders.

As a non-profit broadcaster, the events and projects we can contribute to throughout the year are limited, must include reciprocal benefits, and are measured against our values and objectives as the first national Indigenous broadcaster in the world.

Requests should be submitted early in the fiscal year. APTN’s fiscal year runs from September 1 to August 31.

APTN generally does not provide funding or in-kind service support to the following:

  • Political parties, candidates, activities or initiatives
  • Individuals or personal endeavours (e.g. wedding socials or fundraisers)
  • Community activities (e.g. trips)
  • Religiously affiliated organizations or initiatives
  • Military affiliated organizations or initiatives
  • Community club sports teams
  • Travel, accommodation, meal expenses, tours, etc.

Requesting Financial & Contra Sponsorship

As APTN is a non-profit charitable organization, financial sponsorships are budgeted for per fiscal year. Although we do provide minimal financial contributions, APTN looks to build relationships with organizations through contra (in-kind) contributions.

For approved sponsorships, APTN may provide the following contra (in-kind services):

  • National airtime *(ThinkTV approval is required and the responsibility of the partner to obtain)
  • Website banner advertising
  • Social media
  • APTN News e-Newsletter advertising

The partner organization is responsible for providing all creative and content for value in-kind services (subject to APTN’s approval).
