Winnipeg, Manitoba– National Indigenous Peoples Day is right around the corner, and that can mean only one thing —the largest national celebration in recognition of that day —Indigenous Day Live!
On Saturday, June 23rd, APTN will host Indigenous Day Live from Winnipeg, Toronto and Ottawa bringing daytime celebrations and a free evening concert broadcast live on APTN. The multi-platform broadcast will air on APTN from 7:00 p.m. – 12:00 a.m. ET.
The generous financial support from the Government of Canada has allowed Indigenous Day Live to expand its grassroots efforts and reach even more Canadians. Canadian Heritage’s continued support enables APTN to bring people and communities together to shine a spotlight on Indigenous cultures and to celebrate the distinctiveness and diversity of Indigenous Peoples with all Canadians.
This year, Indigenous Day Live will bring the Saturday night concert lineup to its partner festivals: the Toronto Indigenous Arts Festival at Fort York and the Ottawa Summer Solstice Indigenous Festival at Vincent Massey Park, which both run June 21st to 24th. Winnipeg’s Indigenous Day Live will be held at the Forks, a historical and important location for this show.
APTN is pleased to announce that, officially, as of June 2018, Aboriginal Day Live will change its name to Indigenous Day Live.
